NEW! Curiosity Corner is Now Open!
How do we entice young people to get curious about history? How do we make history relevant to today’s students?
According to Sarah Chesebrough, Director of Education at The Lincoln Museum, “We have updated our Remembering Lincoln gallery, and addressed these issues by creating an interactive space that would encourage our visitors to explore history’s mysteries.”
This exciting new space is now open and has been created with Indiana Academic Standards in mind.
Students of all ages will enjoy thinking about the challenging questions posed by the “Thinkin’ Lincoln” wall cartoon characters. Young students will use early-reader style labels to learn more about 19th century life while playing with Lincoln logs and Jack the Doll. (The Lincoln boys had a beloved doll named Jack.)
Older students and adults are invited to pretend they are the new curator/archivist for the Curiosity Corner Museum, where they will help gather information on reproduction museum “artifacts,”and will learn about the important work museums do in preserving our history and educating the public.
